We’ve yet to hear anything from JVC in regards to an Apple CarPlay receiver, until now.
At CES 2016, alongside their parent company Kenwood, JVC announced their first Apple CarPlay receiver, the KW-V820BT. Described as the company’s premium receiver, the V820BT packs a 6.8-inch resistive touchscreen display, 4x50W MOSFET amp, SiriusXM support, dual USB ports, three groups of 4-volt RCA outputs, a backup camera input and a secondary AUX A/V input. Rear-seat displays are also a possibility with the V820BT with ‘dual-zone’ functionality.
Featuring a resistive display, instead of a capacitive one, makes this unit fall at the first hurdle in my opinion. Especially when this receiver is being promoted as a flagship product by JVC. So JVC fans should hold out for new receiver announcements later on in the year or look at their more premium brand of receivers from Kenwood.
Pricing and release dates, as always, is not available at this time. Once I have more information on this new unit from JVC, I’ll update you all.
